Breastfeeding myths part one

There are loads of myths surrounding breastfeeding, I’m going to try and tackle some of them now. My buster mummy!

Myth one-Breastfeeding will make my breasts sag.
No they don’t, ageing and loss of elasticity will alter your breasts. My felt lighter and not as round after breastfeeding, for the simple reason they weren’t. Sometimes I think this is the problem. During each trimester my breasts increased one size starting at a comfortable 36 C, by the time my baby was born, and I mean all three of them, I was a 40 DD. I ended up having to buy bra extensions to make they less tight, I became a bit paranoid after mastitis. No wonder they seem different, I’ve had page three breasts for over a year.

Myth two- formula milk and breast milk are the same
No there not, breast milk is designed for your baby, it’s full of antibodies, served at the right temperature. formula milk isn’t, ok formula milk does have a consistent level of nutrients and contains more protein than breast milk. But the protein is not easily digestible for young tummies. Breast milk contains more lactose, lactose is connected to brain development.

Myth three- formula feeding is easier than breastfeeding
How can this be true, with formula feeding, it’s more time consuming, having to sterilise bottles, making the formula up and getting it to the right temperature. Whereas breast milk is always on tap, ready whenever necessary. A friend of my who wasn’t the best at remembering things, got in to a total panic every time they took there baby out, and ended up buying twice as much stuff as she needed, so she was never caught without anything. It meant that a day out needed to have practically a suitcase full of baby milk then later food and toys.
